The Red Lion Hotel in Redbourn High Street was the regular Sunday lunchtime rendezvous of several Founders, who, having discovered similar interests, spread the word that a new Lodge was being considered, based on Redbourn. The response was instantaneous and local residents, members of London and other Provincial Lodges, quickly organised themselves into Redbourn Lodge, which was consecrated with thirty one Founders and eight original members. With the permission of the Vicar, St. Mary's Church, Redbourn formed the basis of the Lodge Crest
