The lodge was formed by members employed at Hawker Siddeley Aircraft and Hawker Siddeley Dynamics Group, Hatfield, Herts. The name Old Manor was derived from Astwick Manor which was a building on the estate which was used as a training establishment. The Members decided at an Installation Meeting of the Ellenbrook Lodge No. 8155 to form a Lodge for working men to meet at approximately 17.30 hours on a Tuesday evening at Ashwell House.
