A number of prominent Freemasons residing in Hertfordshire, (notably W. Bro Frank Lawrence) acknowledging a restricted membership of several Lodges (regimental, schools, nonâ€‘joining etc), decided to form a Hertfordshire Lodge providing membership for Freemasons of London and other Provinces.

The Consecrating Officer was The RW Bro The Rev. Dr. Joseph Moffett, Provincial Grand Master. Bros C W F Spriggs, J H E Marshall and H Mills were Worshipful Master, Senior and Junior Wardens respectively. The Sponsoring Lodge was the East Hertfordshire Lodge No. 3748.
