Provincial Grand Master

The Provincial Grand Master is the ruler of the Province. Directly appointed by the Grand Master, the Provincial Grand Master provides leadership and guidance to the members; ensuring that ceremonial and administrative roles are suitably delegated so as to ensure the well running of the Province.

Paul was born in North London in 1946 and attended the local grammar school, Edmonton Latymer. His entire working life was spent in the financial and property sectors. He and Barbara were married in 1968 and have two grown-up daughters and one granddaughter. Since retirement from working life in 2006 Paul and Barbara have pursued their joint love of National Hunt racing as well as extensive travel, opera and the theatre

 

He was initiated into Edmonton Latymer Lodge No 5026 by his former Headmaster in 1978, the date of the Lodge's 50th anniversary. He became Worshipful Master of the Lodge in 1987 and has gone on to join Hertfordshire Master's Lodge No 4090, White Star Lodge No 8727, High Barnet Master's Lodge No 8746 and Lodge of the Red Rampant Lion No 9843.

 

Paul was appointed Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 1994 and Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies in 1996. He then held continuous active office in the Province of Hertfordshire until he was promoted to Assistant Provincial Grand Master in 2003 and Deputy Provincial Grand Master in 2011.  In Grand Lodge he was appointed Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 1999, promoted to Past Senior Grand Deacon in 2004 and Past Grand Sword Bearer in 2012 before being appointed as Provincial Grand Master in 2013.

 

Paul was exalted into the Royal Arch in 1981 (where he held the acting Grand Rank of Deputy Grand Sword Bearer), Advanced as a Mark Master Mason in 1995 and elevated in Royal Ark Mariners in 1996. He is also a member of the Ancient & Accepted Rite (Rose Croix), Knights Templar and Royal & Select Masters. He is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Plaisterers and a Freeman of the City of London.
