Tom was born in Edinburgh in 1943 and moved to London in 1964 and became articled. He joined accountants Price Waterhouse in 1972 and specialised in taxation, becoming a partner in 1979.
He was initiated in West Lancs. Lodge No 3088 in London in 1984, was master in 1989 and 1990, and appointed to LGR in 1999.
He joined Welwyn Garden City Lodge in 1991 serving as master in 2003. He is a member of Hertfordshire Masters' Lodge No 4090 and Michael Batham Jones Lodge No 9675. Tom was appointed to the rank of PPAGDC in 2001, appointed ProvGSwdB in 2002. He was appointed to the rank of PAGDC in 2005. A provincial auditor since 2002, he is also treasurer of HOPE. He is a keen member of Royal Arch and Rose Croix.
He was married to Cilla in 1967, and has two children. He is a freeman of the City of London and member of the Brewers Company and enjoys all music and sport.
