Shyre Lodge in 1985 boasted then to be the youngest Lodge with the oldest Parent, that being Hertford Lodge No. 403. It was conceived by four regular guests from three different Lodges, who wanted to "meet under the same roof". The impressive Crest is based on the Knightly Steed which down the ages has evolved into the Shire Horse, that much revered animal.

At the Installation Meeting on 10th February 2005 Shyre Lodge commenced the celebration of its 20th year with the emphasis on charity.
The Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Allan Atkinson PSGD was in attendance together with an impressive escort of Provincial Grand Sword Bearer, Senior Grand Deacon, AGDC, Grand Standard Bearer and two Grand Stewards. The Founding Senior Warden, W.Bro. Malcolm R. Steggall PProvGReg was installed as Worshipful Master and proceeded to present the DepPGM with a cheque for the Hertfordshire 2009 Festival for £5,000 to qualify the Lodge as a Vice-Patron.
There was a good representation of The Lodge of Opportunity present and the Charity Steward, W.Bro. A.R. Bleakley was pleased to present a cheque for £500 to W.Bro. Ken Haslar PGStdB to sponsor an event of the MTSFC during the coming year. W.Bro. Haslar then gave a very humorous, informative and thought invoking report on the work of the MTSFC and a preview of their proposed new Lodge Banner.
To commemorate the Shyre Lodge’s 20th anniversary the Lodge had commissioned a cuff link and lapel badge set bearing the Lodge crest. W.Bro. Atkinson was the Provincial Grand Senior Warden at the consecration of the Lodge, giving the Address to the Wardens on that occasion and has been present at every Installation Meeting of the Lodge and given that address, as he did at this meeting. To recognise the contribution he has made during our first twenty years, the Worshipful Master, on behalf of the members of Shyre Lodge presented him with a cuff link and lapel set.
The Lodge was also pleased to have present W.Bro. L.J. Skinner, the Worshipful Master of our Mother Lodge, Hertford No.403 (which, in the past year, has celebrated it’s 175th anniversary) and during the Installation Ceremony he acted as Inner Guard. Amongst others present from Hertford Lodge were the IPM W.Bro. B. Timperley, the Secretary W.Bro. L. Priestley, the D.C. W.Bro. J.P. Norris and the A.D.C. W.Bro. R.F. Hoyte who is W.Bro. Steggalls son in law.
Shyre Lodge is fortunate to have six Founders still amongst its membership and the first Initiate, W.Bro. C.R. Prince is the D.C. We look forward to our next twenty years and building on the foundation already laid of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.
